This policy describes how webcop handles information when you use our website, API, CLI, and Chrome extension.
1. Who we are
webcop (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a technology detection service operated at webcop.futuredevsolutions.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, dashboard, API, CLI, and Chrome extension.
2. Information we collect
Account information: email address, name (if provided), password hash, and account settings when you sign up. Usage information: URLs you submit for scanning, scan results (detected technologies, confidence, versions), scan timestamps, credit balance, and billing-related records. API keys: we store a hashed form of your API keys; the full key is shown only once when created. Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. Extension / CLI: the Chrome extension and CLI may store your API key and preferred server URL locally on your device so you can stay signed in.
3. How we use information
We use your information to provide and improve the service: run tech-stack scans, manage credits and subscriptions, authenticate API / extension / CLI access, show scan history, process payments, prevent abuse (including SSRF and rate limits), and send essential account emails such as verification and security notices.
4. Scans and page content
When you scan a URL, our servers fetch that page to detect technologies. We do not permanently store full page HTML or personal content from the scanned site. We store the target URL, scan metadata, and detected technology fingerprints associated with your account.
5. Chrome extension
The extension’s single purpose is to detect the tech stack of the website in your current tab. It sends the active tab URL to the webcop API when you request a scan. It may read your webcop session cookie only on webcop.futuredevsolutions.com to sync your account. It does not sell browsing data or inject advertising.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to operate webcop (for example hosting, email delivery, and Stripe for payments), or when required by law.
7. Data retention
We retain account, scan history, and credit ledger data while your account is active and as needed for billing, security, and legal obligations. You may request account deletion by contacting us.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards such as hashed passwords, hashed API keys, HTTPS, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Your choices
You can update account details in the dashboard, revoke API keys, sign out of the extension/CLI, and request access or deletion of your account data by contacting us at the email below.
10. Children’s privacy
webcop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of webcop after changes means you accept the updated policy.
